No matter how clean a toilet is, a yellowed toilet seat quickly creates a sloppy impression. It looks as if the toilet hasn’t been cleaned properly, even though that isn’t necessarily the case. Many people will have to deal with this sooner or later. Due to daily use, cleaning products, sunlight, and age, a white toilet seat can slowly turn yellow.
That is especially annoying because simply wiping often doesn’t help much. You can clean the seat with all-purpose cleaner, wipes, or toilet cleaner, but the yellow haze often remains visible. As a result, the room feels less fresh. Fortunately, there is a simple way to get the toilet seat much whiter again, namely with a product they sell at Action. When you see what this stuff can do, you’ll run to the store immediately to stock up on a few jars!

Why a toilet seat turns yellow
A yellowed toilet seat is not always caused by dirt. Often, the discoloration lies deeper within the material. Plastic can discolor over time, especially if it is cleaned frequently or exposed to a lot of light. Skin oils, soap residue, and cleaning products can also play a role. Together, these cause the seat to lose its fresh white color.

That makes the problem more stubborn than you might think. A regular all-purpose cleaner mainly removes surface dirt. But if the discoloration has set into the material, you still see little difference after cleaning. Your toilet may be clean, but it still looks old and grubby.

This remedy can help
A product often mentioned for these kinds of jobs is The Pink Stuff cleaning paste. This pink paste is known for its powerful action, yet remains mild enough for many surfaces. This can be particularly useful for a yellowed toilet seat. The paste not only removes dirt but can also help with stubborn stains and discoloration.

The Pink Stuff has a light abrasive effect. As a result, caked-on dirt comes loose more easily. The yellow haze may also become less visible. You usually don’t need to scrub hard. Gently rubbing is often enough to see a difference. However, it is wise to always test on a small, inconspicuous area first.
This is how you clean the toilet seat
The cleaning itself is quite simple. Put a small amount of cleaning paste on a damp cloth or soft sponge. Then gently rub over the yellowed parts of the toilet seat. Preferably do not use a hard scouring pad, as this can cause scratches. If the discoloration is very stubborn, let the paste soak in briefly.

Afterwards, wipe the seat thoroughly with a clean, damp cloth. Ensure that no residue of the paste remains. Then dry the toilet seat with a soft cloth. You will often notice during cleaning that the seat becomes fresher and whiter. In case of severe discoloration, a second treatment may be necessary.
